To: Agricultural Professionals
New technology is revolutionizing the way we manage pests in crop production. Understanding the best use of this technology is essential for you to remain competitive. This winter's Crop Protection Clinics have been designed to help take advantage of these new developments. The format of the clinics continue to be presentations in the morning and workshops in the afternoon. As always, we will emphasize the development of practical, profitable, and environmentally sound pest management programs. New technology in crop production is developing rapidly; however, in order to benefit from new advances, crop managers need to understand how and where they fit. The topics for this year's clinics have been selected to help provide the needed expertise. The clinic at each location has been designed to address local concerns.
Commercial/Noncommercial Pesticide Applicator Recertification will be conducted at the 2008 Crop Protections Clinics in the following 3 categories: Ag Plant, Demonstration and Research, and Regulatory. Clyde Ogg, UNL Extension Pesticide Education Specialist, will send additional details to those applicators who need recertification. Watch for the Pesticide Safety Education Program Training Schedule or visit the web at http://pested.unl.edu/schedulebooklet.pdf
For those of you in the Nebraska Certified Crop Advisor Program, application has been submitted for Crop Protection Clinic participants to earn 4.5 CEU’s in Pest Management. NOTE: CCA’s are required to include their CCA number to apply for CEU credit. This requirement is being implemented by the International CCA Board to add continuity to the process and privacy for CCA's (Social Security Number should not be used).
The cost of the clinic is $40.00. Please make checks payable to: University of Nebraska. This fee includes registration, printed 2008 Proceedings, 2008 Weed Guide and other publications, coffee break and the noon meal. Registration is at the door and begins at 8:15 a.m. local time. If you need more information, please contact your local University of Nebraska Extension Office.
I invite you to examine the program. I know you will find attending the clinic a good investment. In addition, we have listed websites posted by the University that might be of interest to you. You will find the links to your right under "Links" and "Departments Involved" in the menu.
Sincerely,
Mark L. Bernards
